Too few sampled comments (3) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN readers link Krishna's blog to argue that the TIOBE index is unreliable as a language popularity measure, because it counts weighted search-engine results rather than actual usage.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 3 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
You are right, there would be many petty criminals who would be caught because they'd talk about their crimes in plaintext. There would be a reduction in petty crime, while leaving major crime pretty much untouched. That sounds like a good thing... except it might not be in society's interest to eliminate petty crime, as Snowden explains here [1]. [1] - http://nindalf.com/OverconfidentArowana

on “Scala 3 slowed us down?”I was pretty convinced by this article to not use TIOBE as a mark of a language's popularity: https://nindalf.com/posts/stop-citing-tiobe/ Its primary point is that TIOBE is based on *number* of search results on a weighted list of search engines, not actual usage in Github, search volume, job listings, or any of the other number of signals you'd expect a popularity index to use. It could easily be indicating that P…

on “LLMs pose an interesting problem for DSL designers”Thanks for the link, its the second link of the first chapter in the red book. I wonder if it would be possible to find links to all the cited papers. Will look around and post back. Edit: I downloaded all the papers and added them to a single folder - http://nindalf.com/redbook If I should replace or remove any of the pdfs there, please let me know.

on “Ada Continues to Climb in June Tiobe Index and PYPL”This is such a coincidence. I had the same idea a few days ago and also vibe coded a library using Claude. https://nindalf.com/books . The original version of this was meant to encourage me to read more, and I'm pleased to say it succeeded. I hit my goal for the year after a couple of lean years. I also like looking at my highlights and notes and this UI makes it easier to read them. My experience with Claude was mo…

on “Show HN: Vibe coding a bookshelf with Claude Code”https://nindalf.com . I've written a few posts that have made it to HN [1]. I strongly oppose writing with LLMs and think it's more important than ever to write with our own words. If my writing is to be better than LLMs I need to hone it by writing more. I'm proud of the website as well. I have used LLMs to assist with the UI dev. It has all 100s from PageSpeed. I've made it so it's easy to add pages within. All th…

on “Ask HN: Could you share your personal website here?”As Please Stop Citing TIOBE ( https://nindalf.com/posts/stop-citing-tiobe/ ) points out, languages do have random fluctuations. It’s garbage data, so this is unsurprising. Between 2016-17 Java dropped 42% and C dropped 62%. That indicated nothing then, because they both promptly recovered. It was just noise. Don’t take TIOBE seriously. You’ll feel better. Look at the other suggested metrics - Google trends, GitHub r…
