What Hacker News says?
Sweden absolutely has higher taxes on the middle and lower classes than the United States in order to fund its safety net (one old source: https://lanekenworthy.net/2008/02/10/taxes-and-inequality-le... ). You are correct about that. However, you are just presenting numbers in misleading ways that do not accurately reflect the actual taxes paid. Please stop.

HN discussionIf we skip central banks and let the big banks fail we will have real market economy. As it now private banks make new debt money from thin air and are being saved again and again by central banks. The big banks pay them selfes big bonuses during good years, the people pay for this by inflation by the new debt money the central bank creates too save the too big to fail banks. The middle class is being bleeped since…

HN discussionDon't forget the Egyptian Obelisk standing in the middle of the Vatican. on “Bizarre Shadowy Paper-Based Payment System Being Rolled Out Worldwide”We need to reform the banking sector, the too big to fail banks that creates credit out of nothing and gets saved by the state when they make misstakes. When the 1% superrich can't create money out thin air we will have a better middle class. See the GDP per capita vs median income development on the link below http://lanekenworthy.net/2008/09/03/slow-income-growth-for-m...

on “The world’s rich stay rich while the poor struggle to prosper”The Federal reserve was created by senator Aldrich who's daughter was married to the banker Rockefeller. The Federal reserve is privately owned by the member banks themselves among others JP Morgan, City bank. 97% percent of the money in circulation is debt. 1971 Nixon decoupled the Dollar from the Gold standard, essentially creating a FIAT currency. During the 1990s Allan Greenspan chairman of the Federal reserve s…

on “Sen. Manchin demands complete US ban on Bitcoin”That's a lot less obvious than you'd think, in large part because people have so much scope to react to changes in tax rates by restructuring their income, sheltering it, etc. The impact of taxation on inequality is empirically much lower than the impact of spending. You can see this, eg, by looking at the Nordic countries, which have relatively flat taxes skewed towards regressive taxes like a VAT, but low inequali…

on “How the City of London invented offshore banking”The article explicitly states that pre-tax inequality is greater in Germany than the US. I don't know why you insist otherwise. And, I've never said that Europe has a fairer tax policy. However, I'm happy to say that the US should NOT emulate the EU's abysmal per-capita GDP. I'll come to the consequences of that at the end. You're the one who thinks that progressiveness is a virtue yet prefer a less progressive tax…
