Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
Linked as a concrete example of a blog whose comments load from a Mastodon server through client-side requests, which works because Mastodon servers allow cross-origin access. The comment is about the implementation, not the writing.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
Podcaster, Broadcaster, Tech Pundit. Founder of the TWiT podcast network. Recovering syndicated radio host.
What Hacker News says?
Here is an example, from Leo Laporte's blog: https://leo.fm/2022/02/isitover/ Click on the "Load comments", you can see that it does request to Mastodon server, in this case, twit.social to fetch the comments. Because most Mastodon servers have CORS allowed to all sites, it's pretty easy to do.
