What Hacker News says?
https://livingstingy.blogspot.com (Robert Platt Bell, former patent attorney) ^^ His blog has changed quite a bit since I started reading it in 2013. Used to be more about ways to save money, but he's long since moved on to just writing about various current issues. I don't always agree with what he has to say, but I find his experiences and opinions very interesting. Here's a sample: https://livingstingy.blogspot.c…

HN discussionI tried to find a succinct name for this scheme but failed. I did find a blog where a retired attorney discusses this and some variations on it (and learned something new in the process: pulling this stunt on multiple prospective tenants at the same time makes this a hell of a lot more lucrative): https://livingstingy.blogspot.com/2017/07/house-rental-scams...

HN discussionI can't find anything more than hearsay about this, but I've now encountered the idea several times that Tesla chose or developed an unusual alloy to mitigate oilcanning, a phenomenon where large, flat pieces of sheet metal tend to cup or bow. Here's some anecdata that is probably the most coherent read I can find on the topic of Cybertruck oilcanning: http://livingstingy.blogspot.com/2023/08/dude-wheres-my-cybe...…

HN discussionGoogle search is amazing. #4 result for me is this article, which predates the popular usage of "MAGA" and doesn't include "magalife3" in the page content, but exactly answers your question. http://livingstingy.blogspot.com/2015/01/is-item-still-avail... Gem of a line on that page: "In reality, only poor people use Western Union, so don't be a poor person and just stop using it. "
