Why HN links it
Science and health explainers. One commenter calls an article on how diabetics use insulin 'really interesting' and says it explains mixing long- and short-acting insulins. Other comments do not discuss the writing.

I write about something similar a while back https://maori.geek.nz/proof-of-human-2ee5b9a3fa28 About the difficulty of proving you are human especially when every test built has so much incentive to be broken. I don't think it will be solved, or could ever be solved.

HN discussion> Are there countless valid long terms studies demonstrating the existence of gravity? No, not really Yes, there are. There’s actually periodic assesments of gravity at most places to get an idea of the trends and detect underground movements. An exemple of this: https://earth-planets-space.springeropen.com/articles/10.118... Surveying gravity is one of the many measures that are done pretty frequently and very seri…

HN discussionMy son was diagnosed in 2022 with T1D, I wrote this post about it mostly out of determination to understand how to manage https://maori.geek.nz/the-unreasonable-math-of-type-1-diabet... He is now on Dexcom+Omnipod+AAPS and doing well. Being familiar with PagerDuty and Datadog/ELK stack, all I want is a similar set of services that can scale (cheaply) to manage all people with T1D. Nightscout is a start but won't sca…

HN discussionHonestly I'd look at using Electron because you can take a hard dependency on the browser capabilities and state. If you rely on the user bringing their own browser you're going to have headaches of people on ancient browsers or just supremely jacked up browsers (messed up browser plugins, proxies, turned off javascript, etc.). Node can easily launch processes and there are even fancy process management libraries li…

HN discussionI wrote this post https://maori.geek.nz/small-light-robust-phones-for-a-type-1... that has a bunch of examples of small phones. The requirements are not exactly the same, but in the same boat as for want of good solid small phones. I recommend the pixel 4a 5g with LineageOS installed, or the Q9 mini.

HN discussionHey, I love your go-app library! I wrote a blog post using it here https://maori.geek.nz/a-web-app-using-bazel-golang-wasm-and-... and have used it on multiple small experimental projects. I have plans to use your code, either as inspiration or direct dependence, for many of my future projects! Cheers :)_

HN discussionthis is a really interesting article that explains how diabetics use insulin, and different types of insulin. https://maori.geek.nz/the-unreasonable-math-of-type-1-diabet... The tl;dr: is that there are longer+shorter acting insulins, and you want to mix and match them to roughly match your blood glucose levels (so taking short acting insulin shortly before meals when your blood glucose levels spike)

HN discussionThis is a follow up post from “The Unreasonable Math of Type 1 Diabetes” ( https://maori.geek.nz/the-unreasonable-math-of-type-1-diabet... ). It is more about the long term complications of T1D and the way we have adapted our strategies to minimize them.

HN discussionI wrote a couple of blog posts a few years back about RPython ( http://www.maori.geek.nz/post/rpython_compiling_python_to_c_... http://www.maori.geek.nz/post/rpython_is_not_a_language_an_i... ) where I implemented a Boolean Satifiability Solver in it.
