And here's how to integrate Webster's into Emacs :) http://mbork.pl/2017-01-14_I'm_now_using_the_right_dictionar... Actually there's more than one way, of course. See the comments here: https://irreal.org/blog/?p=6546

HN discussionWell, Emacs has had a poor man's "Paint" for over two decades: ;;; artist.el --- draw ascii graphics with your mouse -*- lexical-binding: t -*- ;; Copyright (C) 2000-2023 Free Software Foundation, Inc. It is not as nice and colorful, but it has a spray tool (yay!). Also, it is actually useful once in a while [0]. [0] https://mbork.pl/2023-07-15_Drawing_ASCII_art_charts_in_Emac... HN discussionhttps://mbork.pl One post per week for almost 9 years now. (In July I'm going to change this to one post per two weeks since I'm starting another blog.) Mainly Emacs stuff with a bit of JS and PostgreSQL, and sometimes other stuff once in a while. The blog started in 2006 (then only in Polish), the English version started in 2009, and was rather irregular until 2014.

HN discussionEmacs Lisp has AOP built in [0], and in this context it is extremely useful. The common use case is advising functions of a third-party library without modifying the library itself (which wouldn't survive e.g. an upgrade). This is a bit atypical, though, in that the end user is a programmer here. A blog post I wrote last year [1] is one example of advising functions sitting pretty deep in the chain of function calls…
