    > everyone now uses AI and no longer read and learn from books Not me, I read the shit out of documentation and also books like yours which distill knowledge from professionals down to a bunch of useful points. I have never not learned something (even if I knew and forgot it) from reading a good book about "Working with X". Thanks for your hard work, and for giving it away to others gratis. Edit: the string formatti…

  5. I finally compiled and expanded on all my various blog posts, tutorials and other Python goodness into a book: Working with Python. It is available as a free pdf download at: https://mkaz.blog/working-with-python/ It's grown over a dozen or so years and when I finally decide to compile into a book, everyone now uses AI and no longer read and learn from books but instead through LLMs.

  7. Plugins are a bonus for vim, but one doesn't really use vim just because of the plugins. There are far better editors for this. Decidated vimmer usually make heavy usage of external tools, instead of integration which plugins bring. There is the term "Unix IDE" for this, you can read a bit online about this (for example: https://mkaz.blog/code/unix-is-my-ide/ )

  11. Good stuff, thanks for sharing! There's a card game Krypto that is similar, fun to play with my kids. I wrote some scripts awhile ago to solve Krypto games and figure out how many games are unsolvable. I wrote up my thinking and how I went about solving here: https://mkaz.blog/math/krypto-game-analysis/

Nice doc series. Perhaps consider linking your lines documentation in the todo docs as an example of how to shift items around? Every time vimwiki/todo.txt comes up here people bring up how to move/delete completed items, often because they're unaware of :move and friends. Note: Your .vimrc link in configuration¹ is broken. Edit : After re-reading my comment it sounds like a complaint, it wasn't meant that way and I…

  15. Ah, it is Vim's todo list, not using Vim as a todo app. I was looking for more pointers on the later, I wrote a little on using Vim Wiki for managing todo list, always on the look out for more tips. Here's the TLDR; - Install Vim wiki plugin - Convert line to checkboxes using ctrl-space - Use ctrl-space to mark complete - Use gln to toggle partial complete (glp for previous) - gl<Space> to remove checkbox A little m…
