Why HN links it

HN readers link Massdriver's site, which launched on HN as a self-serve cloud infrastructure platform. One commenter reviewed it as a functional platform and discussed its framing of ops, dev and compliance friction.

What Hacker News says?

  1. As SRE/DevOps/Ops type, I took a look because I've sat with salespeople with your competitors. It looks like a functional platform and another "Cloud defaults are too scary? Here is a sane default option." >The hard part isn’t just technical, it’s socio-technical. Ops teams want control, devs want speed, and compliance creates friction between them. You got that right and I'm not sure another tool is going to fix it…

  3. I love the idea of high-level intents and abstractions. They’re tough to get right, but when they click, they make dev teams move way faster. Cloud APIs mix operational and developer concerns, which is part of the problem. A single API call for something like a database forces you to think about instance types, failover strategies, and security settings when all a developer really cares about is, "I need a database…

  5. Yep. Massdriver [0] is built on elixir and golang. All user facing APIs and cloud provisioning state is written in elixir and runs on pretty much just fumes. Cloud systems interaction is written in golang because cloud stuff. Email is in profile if you’d like to chat. Always happy to talk elixir and golang 0: https://massdriver.cloud
