Too few sampled comments (4) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

Linked as a source on Amazon's book piracy and counterfeit inventory problem, and once as a link to the post itself. The comments do not judge the writing.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 4 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

  3. A couple thoughts. I've had an ErgoDox for almost 9 years. I wrote my thoughts after a year here [0]. I use the Norman layout which I'm generally pleased with but don't know if the finger travel buys you that much. More important to me had been leveraging both thumbs to hit commonly used keys and modifiers. In the last week, I was made aware of the miryoku layout and made a Norman version. (Prior to COVID-19, I trav…

If you want better Python or Data Science skills, consider hiring me to upskill your team. (Cheaper than hiring). I've done that at Large Streaming companies, Space agencies, Chip manufacturers, Energy corps, Universities, and startups. I've written many books on Python and Data Science, and…

  7. Yeah, if you have thumb clusters I definitely recommend putting modifiers on them. The thumb is one of the strongest digits, yet most only use them (or one of them!) to press a single key, the spacebar. What a waste. On my ergodox the two big thumb keys on the left are control (escape when tapped) and alt. I don't use the other thumb keys as they aren't comfortable to type. The two right thumb keys are space and ent…

  9. As an owner of the ergodox, I appreciate the efforts and iteration here. Sadly, the ergonomics of most non-split keyboards are hardcoded to a magic number. With the ergodox, I currently have the halves about a foot apart and really enjoy typing that way. (I have also "tented" the halves in the past). I agree that the ergodox is not perfect and the thumb clusters could be improved, I'm just not sold that the butterfl…

  11. (Author of said bug and ratiotile layout, and battery widget). Nope, not ideal, but I've been using qtile with multiple monitors for 3+ years now. Restarting qtile isn't that bad though because you don't lose your windows, just the layout of them. And because I have my most common layout first, it turns out not to bug me. For me it just feels right[0], even with its warts. I'm glad Tycho and others are pushing it fo…

  13. I've blogged a bit about what I want in a keyboard [0]. What I'm currently missing is chorded keys for symbols. (ie having them on the home row with a modifier key). I think that would actually help programmers. The problem is is that my Python specific symbols layer is going go be less than optimal for a C/Java/... programmer. 0- http://hairysun.com/blog/2013/04/02/oh-ergonomic-keyboard/
