What Hacker News says?

  1. Malware will often detect the presence of a VM and refuse to run, requiring you to identify and defeat the VM checks or more insidiously appear to run normally but modify the actions it takes. [0] Generally these problems are solved by modifying the VM so it can no longer be detected. 7. At least one malware crew even setup a specific C&C server for researchers. The malware still would install correctly if detected a VM but it would use a different domain generation algorithm that would connect to a completely different infrastructure than the one used for regular infections. This is very difficult to notice as the behavior is no different than what you would expect from a regular infection. http://…

  11. Do you know that Chrome is vulnerable, or are you just going by the version numbers? Chrome sandboxes plugins in order to give an extra layer of protection against exactly these kind of exploits. The interesting question will be how it helps in this case. Do you have any info? ADDED: initial reports suggest Chrome is NOT affected; whether its thanks to Chrome's sandboxing model or whether its because Chrome has patc…
