Why HN links it
HN readers link this personal site for its retro computing, design and technical essays, including a VAX/VMS setup guide and a programming-languages list. It also hosts writing projects and an adventure game.

What Hacker News says?
https://meadhbh.hamrick.rocks/ pretty much all text (except a javascript chording keyboard emulator) was on google sites, but they were slow to do https so i moved it to github. a week later google sites announced they were doing https. i regret nothing.

HN discussionA couple years ago I set up VMS on a VAX emulator on Raspbian. In case you're interested, here's the link describing the process: http://www.wherry.com/gadgets/retrocomputing/vax-simh.html And I guess the process of requesting and installing a license changes from time to time. This page describes a slightly different process for activating the license which worked for me: https://meadhbh.hamrick.rocks/home/technica…

HN discussionSince this post has morphed into a "this is why I think language $(FOO) is good," here's another list which takes liberties with the concept of "programming language." https://meadhbh.hamrick.rocks/v2/technical/six_hot_languages...

HN discussionI have two, because I am too lazy to integrate the one into the other: Old web site with writing projects: https://meadhbh.hamrick.rocks/ Newer web site with design experiments: https://www.bi6.us/

HN discussionI love the concept of getting links "out of the way," though I did it slightly differently. Instead of having links in the body of the text, links in the text of my docs tend to be links to citations in a reference section on the same page. https://meadhbh.hamrick.rocks/v2/design/why_is_my_web_site_s...

HN discussionThis is awesome. Several years ago I found the print-out of an adventure game I wrote in my youth and modified it a bit to work with Chipmunk Basic. It wasn't NEARLY as full featured as Artic Adventure, but this is quite motivating. I'll have to find some time to port the bits of my space adventure to something that can run in a web page. https://meadhbh.hamrick.rocks/v2/retro_computing/sundog_dot_...
