What Hacker News says?
Tablets are the perfect form factor for coding because you can easily mount them in an ergonomic position like this: https://mgsloan.com/posts/comfortable-airplane-computing/ Most laptops have terrible keyboards so I'd be using an external one either way.

HN discussionGlad you're intrigued =] Supine computing is massively underrated, but often requires expensive desks or time-intensive DIY setups (that aren't portable).[1] VR computing opens this up as one of its additional use cases. [1] https://mgsloan.com/posts/supine-computing/

HN discussionYes, Simula allows for you to retain full control of window management with only a keyboard; mouse and hand gestures are not necessarily needed, though will be supported also. In order to do this, we make use forward eye gaze, which you can use to move mouse cursors (and also to move windows around). Customizable keyboard shortcuts can be configured to resize/shrink/expand/zoom in/zoom out/push in/push away windows.…

HN discussionHey, author here. Yes the treadmill deck desk is rather maximalist! I also enjoy very portable setups, particularly for forests / mountains, but I also sometimes computer in or outside cafes. My portable setup for being out in nature is really weird looking though, so I'm slowly ramping up the weirdness levels of my posts about these topics rather than diving right in. While the location and hardware isn't exactly m…

HN discussionI saw this post at some point and thought it was pretty interesting. It gives ways to do this for much less than 5k https://mgsloan.com/posts/supine-computing/

HN discussionFor a while I had a misting setup during the summer, at my deck desk. I didn't have any trouble with electronics. These days I'm in Colorado which tends to be relatively dry. One solution to sun is to use shade strategically - https://mgsloan.com/posts/tree-based-computing/#handling-the...

HN discussionInteresting! I haven't tried it yet, but perhaps foam wedges would be a cost effective approach? (typically used as yoga props) For positioning the laptop, suspending it works pretty decently for laptops that have a large range of motion in the hinges - https://mgsloan.com/posts/suspending-laptops/

on “Supine Computing (2019)”Author of the supine computing post here. I agree thoroughly that variety is best for health overall. In a different post I wrote a section about it: https://mgsloan.com/posts/deskless-ergo-wfh/#variety-is-key . I think it comes up elsewhere, but I should probably emphasize it in every post!
