So happy for you, thats a wonderful milestone! I love especially that you share all the nitty-gritty details that so many would hold back (e.g. raw revenue/profit numbers, where bootstrapping savings came from, failures along the way, etc.). It's so important for people to share success stories without sugar coating the difficulties, good, undiluted positive feedback provides so more information than generic negativ…

HN discussionTo all the people asking about self-hosted alternatives, I can recommend zulip[0], and this article[1] explaining why. [0] https://zulip.com/ [1] https://monadical.com/posts/how-to-make-remote-work-part-two...

HN discussionI actually think Zulip is an exception to this, because its Stream>Topic hierarchy encourages organized conversations. At my org, we consider Zulip to be an archive of sorts, and make an effort (a small one, because Zulip's UX makes it natural) to organize our communication such that it serves as a source of information for a future date. I wrote a whole article about this a while back: https://monadical.com/posts/h…

HN discussionPreviously at EI2030, we were using Discord, and it wasn't easy to find and keep track of information as we were growing. We've transitioned to Zulip and couldn't be happier. The article from monadical describes it best: "...[Zulip] creates an organized repository of knowledge as a side effect" Thank you to the Zulip team! https://monadical.com/posts/how-to-make-remote-work-part-two... https://ei2030.zulipchat.com/

HN discussionThere are many solutions for constrained/structured generation with LLMs these days, here is a blog post my employer published about this a while back: https://monadical.com/posts/how-to-make-llms-speak-your-lang... I'm partial to Outlines lately, but they all have various upsides and downsides. OpenAI even natively added support for this on their platform recently: https://openai.com/index/introducing-structured-ou…

HN discussionZulip has been absolutely pivotal in our company's remote work setup. It becomes a searchable knolwledgebase as a side-effect of its threading model (the exact opposite of the pile of unorganized mess that Slack usually devolves into): https://monadical.com/posts/how-to-make-remote-work-part-two...

HN discussionA big benefit of the organization provided by every message being in a topic is that it makes finding this more efficient. E.g. if you remember that Steve made a joke about donuts in the conversation, you can search for messages sent by Steve mentioning donuts, find the topic, and from there find the actual conversation. I do this to find months-old or years-old conversations several times a week. If you're curious…
