Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

HN readers link this post on macOS dev TTY polling, asking whether poll(2) can be used instead of select(2) on a pty. The one comment praises Apple's systems work and asks for cleaner POSIX behaviour.

  3. I like Zig because it feels like a refinement of C with all the knowledge of the years since C was created. Some of my favorite features are no global allocator, well-defined pointers (with optionals required for nullability), generics and partial evaluation at compile-time, and builtin features/functions for all sorts of operations that are only extensions in C/C++ like SIMD and packed structs. 5. Can we finally call poll(2) instead of select(2) on a pty? https://nathancraddock.com/blog/macos-dev-tty-polling/ Apple is doing a lot of great things in systems fundamentals, but I wish they'd take some time to clean up warts in their POSIX implementation.

  9. I agree here. I really like what Zig has done with pointer types. I wrote about it here [0]. What I like most is that all the types consistently read from left to right, and there are types that encode the cardinality of a pointer unlike C. I wonder what you or others think about Zig’s pointers syntax. [0]: https://nathancraddock.com/blog/consistency-in-zigs-type-sys...
