Too few sampled comments (4) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

HN readers link neat.io for Bee and Ship, native macOS clients for issue trackers such as GitHub and Jira. The comments mention these products but do not discuss the blog's writing.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 4 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

The beautiful, lightning-fast and fully-native issue tracker that you will want to use. Effortless connectivity direct to your existing JIRA, GitHub or Manuscript server. You'll get more stuff done and your team will love that you now actually update your issues instead of leaving them hanging.

What Hacker News says?

  1. > relies on a remote server. That isn't really a fair comparison when eschaton says > it has some weird server component that's not Github's own API server. The remote servers that Mail.app communicates that are... the email providers. As far as I'm aware, when I use Mail.app with Fastmail, Apple doesn't send all my Fastmail email through their servers. Mail.app talks directly to Fastmail. A mail client which works…

  3. Nice I use Bee which supports GitHub and JIRA. http://www.neat.io/bee/index.html Unfortunately this application supports only GitHub issues.

  5. This reminds me a bit of Bee[1] which puts a native Mac interface on top of existing issue trackers (GitHub, JIRA, FogBugz). On the one hand, Bee's approach seems like a win in the short term because people don't have to switch where there data lives or buy in to an off-premise service if that's not what they want. Longer-term, though, the data model of the existing systems could prove to be limiting if you've got g…

  7. Well you'd be surprised. I've also tried to solve this problem. You can create your own lists inside of Bee which filter issues based on your own rules ( http://neat.io/bee/docs/smart-lists.html ). It's helpful because you just define the rules one-time and then flick to it whenever you need to. Bee also has a menubar helper which tracks your short-term tasks and queues up your next issue so you always know what you…

  9. I used to be in that situation which is why I wrote Bee ( http://neat.io/bee/ ). Its a Mac client for JIRA (amongst other services) and makes JIRA much more pleasant to use. JIRA's UI tends to be geared towards project management types. I wanted to bring the focus back onto the engineer.

  11. I initially launched the site promoting my app as just 1 page. In hindsight knowing what I know now that was ludicrous. (You need more pages, more content and more targeted content.) I went into it here: http://neat.io/blog/the-bee-website-redesign.html I still don't really understand SEO and my site is still not ranking for the keywords I want but I'm trying to learn. I did get one-off semi-professional help from e…

  13. I'm in the situation you describe right now. I blogged about it a couple months ago: http://neat.io/blog/diary-of-a-programmer-with-no-clue-about... . The resulting HN discussion has a lot of good tips: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6686290 My launch didn't go 'well' to the standards that I constantly see on HN. I got < 10 users and a lot of those were existing beta testers. Now I'm 2 months in and I have bee…

  15. Slightly offtopic: https://www.neat.io/bee/ Native FAST client for Jira. The point is - once you make it works for you, life is great again. As others here said, be Jira master and climb the corporate ladder.

  17. This is awesome, well done! I just wanted to chime in and say I like your approach of just focusing on pull requests. There's another app I know of that just focuses on creating issues ( http://issuepostapp.com ). I happen to be the author of another GitHub Issues client ( http://neat.io/bee/github-issues-client.html ) which is aimed at the other end of the spectrum: to be full-featured. Great to see all these diffe…
