What Hacker News says?

  1. I had a look at this, and it looks to me like it's a 301 from another domain. Typically when domains get a manual penalty (primarily for spam), they drop in rankings overnight. So to counter this, you register a new domain and redirect it and overnight, your rankings bounce back. This technique is super common for blackhat sites like illegal streaming sites. If the redirect is done as a meta refresh, then you can bl…

  3. Please enlighten us about the backend provider, I'm interested. It seems the OP of this thread is using the same backend as he's not willing to tell it. edit: Ubersuggest mentioned by someone says in dev blog https://neilpatel.com/blog/ubersuggest-update/ > My data feed from SEO Power Suite, Data For SEO, and Shared Count totaled $75,253 for January. Is this the backend mentioned? Some direct links for others intere…

  5. FYI Neil Patel is the co-founder of both CrazyEgg and Kissmetrics. He blogs, has a popular podcast and gives away some pretty valuable marketing information for free. I follow him and have never thought that he was primarily an SEO expert. He speaks about startup marketing and SEO is certainly a big part of that. He does preach that unless you have the capital, blogging and SEO are one of your few alternatives for m…

  9. > puts us back where we were pre-google era anyway... Google (search) is becoming increasingly less relevant. I know of DuckDuckGo / Kagi, a quick search (on DuckDuckGo) shows a lot of other search engines such as Mojeek, Ecosia, Qwant, Brave: https://proton.me/blog/alternative-search-engines As well as a lot of what I'd call "domain specific" search engines like Wolfram Alpha, various targeted social media engines,…

  11. I've been a generalist in tech and a contractor, so my experience, while not directly applicable, may be helpful to you. In my mind, being a solopreneur is all about lead flow; that's the toughest part for me. I leaned heavily on my network as they knew the quality of my work and I didn't have to sell them much. I'd start reaching out to everyone who you have worked with in the past decade and letting them know you…

  13. Lengthy load times are detrimental to UX. Just look at how people are increasingly less likely to wait for a page to finish loading with every additional second it takes to load [1, 2]. In regards to feedback from users, this is especially true when finding product-market-fit (when an idea actually becomes a business). There’s nothing better than learning what customers who actually use your product want in future r…

A quick tip so it's easier for people to share and link to it: please add some Open Graph meta tags to the page so it looks nice[0]. 19. Perhaps you weren't around at the peak of blogging era when all the gurus usually running self-help blogs were preaching that writing style to aspiring bloggers. Doug here's a 50-page demo of your site fully mapped w/ high-res screenshots: https://app.visualsitemaps.com/share/0ab02eb852f0f5267291ce5... *one thing we noticed is that your site does have an https certificate! 27. I was wondering the same. Ubersuggest has a comparison page[0]. From my understanding it boils down to Ubersuggest being cheaper and most likely enough for what most users will need, but Ahrefs has a larger tool suite (and much higher cost).
