Why HN links it
HN readers link Nerderati for its guide to simplifying SSH with ~/.ssh/config, which commenters cite as a reference for SSH setup and connection management.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 6 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
I primarily yell at code. Well, I look sternly in its general direction, gently urging it to do my bidding.

HN discussionI agree with you, having the ability to script everyday tasks is awesome, though however in the case of the ssh wrapper it might be a little overkill, given that you can achieve the same (and more) with a ssh_config file [1] [2]. I would particularly recommend the ControlMaster option. [1] http://nerderati.com/2011/03/simplify-your-life-with-an-ssh-... [2] http://linux.die.net/man/5/ssh_config

HN discussion>Was the whole password to SSH key switch annoying at all for anyone else? Never was an issue for me because I'd always been using keys in the first place. I imagine it's less common for folks who don't manage servers, but all of my prior ssh usage had switched to keys over a decade ago. >Like procedurally its simple but I have a bunch of accounts, a bunch of different repos. Definitely recommend looking into creati…

HN discussionI've been working on customized EC2 instances, DO droplets and Nitrous ( https://pro.nitrous.io ) since 2012 and haven't looked back. There is the issue of connectivity, but I'm unproductive without an internet connection so it has worked well for me. I use tmux and then connect to the session from work, home, etc... and setup ssh config ( http://nerderati.com/2011/03/17/simplify-your-life-with-an-s... ) so I have s…

HN discussionI hate to be snarky but having read through the code this really isn't a big thing. It's a tool for people that can't use .ssh/config. Manage your SSH like a boss? Perhaps, but only in the pointy-haired can't-read-man-ssh_config boss sense of the word. For those that don't want to install a script and would prefer to understand the tools they already have try this: http://nerderati.com/2011/03/simplify-your-life-wit…
