  3. Friends don't let friends configure linux from a web UI. It's messy, built off of assumptions, and is ripe for exploitation. Plus, if all you ever use is a web UI, how are you supposed to troubleshoot or fix the machine when said web UI stops working? If you're looking for pretty, single host, read-only monitoring dashboards though, checkout Netdata: https://www.netdata.cloud/

  7. Netdata doesn't have any paid service at the moment, event the Cloud service is free. There are plans in the future for some paid plan but it won't remove features, it is more on having longer retention on metadata, role based access, support, etc. You can find more details here https://www.netdata.cloud/pricing/

  9. Good to hear metrics correlation might be useful to you, just as background you can get more info here: https://www.netdata.cloud/blog/netdata-cloud-metric-correlat... At the moment it's based on a short window of data so the focus is more for short term changes around an area of interest you have already found. Longer term it would be cool to be able to use an anomaly score on the metrics themselves (or if a lot of…

  13. As an alternative, I use the free community-edition netdata -- love it at my job, and it works right out of the box on my personal windows and linux machines. https://www.netdata.cloud/pricing/ (don't let the `.cloud` scare you off, they have a 100% free and functional local-only install) It's insanely powerful and with some configuration can persist the metrics in a local database.

  17. Docker-compose, not k8s. Set up a cron job to run a script to update the OS, pull all your containers and reboot after hours once a week or once a day. Make sure the script specifies non interactive. Set up alerting for low disk space, see https://netdata.cloud or use your own tool. Set up firewall. Use SSL if you can, wireguard if you can't. Even internal networks should use http. I have something very similar set…
