What Hacker News says?
Sure. Best auditor is https://openzeppelin.com/security-audits/ . Second might be https://www.trailofbits.com . Here's the audit that just finished: https://github.com/OriginProtocol/security/blob/master/audit...

HN discussionSounds like you've been at this since I have (mid-late 90s as well)! I somewhat agree with you on the state of tooling compared to web dev today but I'm not sure it matters or is terribly relevant to the point OP is making. I've been in this space one way or another for five years so prepare for a (somewhat anecdotal) "dump" that you may (hopefully) find useful for the new project that you've been put on. You mentio…

HN discussionFair point. I probably should have directed him to: https://www.openzeppelin.com/contracts That’s the closest thing to a collection of standard contracts for protocol builders to use that I am aware of. I’m more on the MEV side - I try to profit from protocols rather than build them. So it wasn’t my first thought.

on “Ask HN: Getting started with Web3 ("decentralized web") development”Less than you think. Having some general ideal about the main asset classes and how finance works is useful but don't feel like you need a CFA or anything. Same goes for game theory, helpful especially on the protocol design side of things but don't feel like you need to be an expert to get started. More useful coming from webdev would be good solidity [1] skills. There is a real shortage currently. Most general eng…

on “Ask HN: What are some job sectors which are crying out for tech talent in 2021?”Very simple explanation: imagine you want to start a software company with 5 people you met on the internet. You each live in 5 different countries. How do you decide who holds the treasury? How do you decide which jurisdiction to register a partnership agreement in? There's a lot of friction there. And a lot of trust involved. Even if one person takes it upon themselves, the other 4 members have to trust the 1 guy…
