Nick Wilcox's personal blog at nickwilcox.com covers programming and systems. Since 2020, 5 different Hacker News readers have linked it 6 times, most often “Auto-Vectorization for AVX in Rust”. The last post was in 2020, but the archive is still widely read.
Too few sampled comments (2) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN readers link Nick Wilcox's posts on autovectorization and on the Arm versus x86 memory model. The comments cite them as examples when discussing hand-written assembly and Arm memory ordering.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
Compilers are great, but they don't always produce optimal code. You can quite often produce faster code if you're prepared to hand roll the assembly code, but it's rarely something most people will need to do. The time it takes to produce often outweighs any advantage you'd get, but having it as an option is going to be very important. HN discussionArm has a much looser memory model than x86 [1 for a comparison]. It's possible that the random hangs are due to a race condition in PG that doesn't show up in x86 because memory visibility doesn't require as much synchronization. 1: https://www.nickwilcox.com/blog/arm_vs_x86_memory_model/
