Oliver Smith's personal blog at chemicaloliver.net covers programming and hardware. Since 2011, 3 different Hacker News readers have linked it 3 times. The last post was in 2019, but the archive is still widely read.
Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
Links to a post on usability testing of Ubuntu Unity on netbook and touchscreen hardware. One commenter says its issues may be specific to one version and cites other hardware reports that look different.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
What Hacker News says?
There are specific issues mentioned in the post that I wouldn't expect to be present in just any version. http://chemicaloliver.net/linux/ubuntu-unity-on-eeepc/ and http://www.greenhughes.com/content/samsung-nb30-touchscreen-... look quite different.
