Too few sampled comments (4) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

The linked pages are about Open Robotics, the team behind ROS, Gazebo and related open source robotics tools, covering its careers and team pages. The comments mention job openings, donation options and staff size, not the writing.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 4 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

We are the home for ROS, Gazebo, and Open-RMF. We build open source robot software and help others to apply it.

  3. OSHWA board member [1] here and developer advocate at Open Robotics (the people who maintain ROS) here. May I suggest you take a look at microROS[3]? I am also super excited about OSHWA certified open hardware [4]. 5. For robotics, "make robot OS" the first (most popular) donation target would be Open Robotics [1] that develop Robot operative system ROS/ROS2. De-facto standard at least in academia, some startups (for MVP), and institutes. If you are more keen about the hardware side (imo this side probably require more funding if you really want to keep Robots OS, software can come later) I like Robot Studios work by Rob Knight […

  9. In addition to the papers on end-to-end learning for robotics, it might also be worth reading about the state-of-the art in classical robotics. There's a lot of debate in the field about whether end-to-end learning and scaling will solve robotics[1]. On the E2E side, there's the bitter lesson, scaling for LLMs and other AI success cases. On the skeptical side, there's the reliability limit (has anyone seen any ML cr…

  11. I am the developer advocate for ROS. Many of those projects you mention are using ROS or ROS 2, and the feedback from those users was instrumental in developing ROS 2. By my last count we had approximately 400 companies using ROS and that is likely an undercount. I usually point people to the ROS 2 TSC or the ROS Industrial consortium to get a sense of who using ROS in production. We just published a new paper on RO…
