Why HN links it
HN commenters link this blog's posts on classic Mac OS history: HyperCard colour support, the 68k emulator's Mixed Mode, and Linux raw graphics output. Links are cited as sources, not praised.

What Hacker News says?
It did get color support though, no? Kind of kludged in (iirc you had to manually add Color Tools support to a stack), but Myst was famously put together in HyperCard, and that came out in 1993. Edit: Myst apparently used a plug-in (InColor from Heizer Software), and 2.3 officially added Color Tools https://orangejuiceliberationfront.com/how-hypercard-got-its...

HN discussionYou are in good company: "According to various reports, when someone suggested to include a touch-typing tutorial in this intro as well, since many people did not know how to use a keyboard, steve Jobs simply said not to bother as those people would die out eventually." * http://orangejuiceliberationfront.com/theyll-die-out-eventua...

HN discussionA while back I tried learning Objective-C on Linux. My end goal was to do iOS development, but I wanted to try it out before I spent the money on a Mac. Maybe I'd hate Obj-C and know immediately it wasn't for me... Using the Objective-C language on Debian was as easy as doing "apt-get install gobjc". But, as you stated, most of the utility comes from Cocoa. Even though it's technically possible to use Objective-C wi…

HN discussion"Mixed Mode Magic" was a key feature of the 68k emulator. 68k code could call PowerPC routines through "universal procedure pointers", and vice versa. This included Toolbox routines as well as third-party code, and it extended to the point that 68k CDEFs (system extensions) which patched system traps could still be used on PowerPC systems. Some further details are at: https://orangejuiceliberationfront.com/universal…

HN discussionI'm surprised behind the huge push behind a "soft yellow" colored bulb. The articles makes a claim that humans prefer the yellow/orange glow due to prevalence of fire as lighting. But I don't see a single mention of the color termperature of pure sunshine, which is much, much closer to pure white (5500K). Flourescent bulbs that glow at 5500K are considered "pure white" [0] and seem to be demonized in the article as…
