  3. This is making the arguments based on only things "above the fold". There are plenty of people that have dispelled the myth that content NEEDS to be above the fold (1)(2). That said, the implication with Google results is that the higher up on the page the link is, the more relevant that link is to a user's search. In my experience, very few people ever get to the second page of Google Search results. I'm all but ce…

  9. There are tradeoffs involved in having some important material below the fold, but I don't think it's universally a bad idea. http://iampaddy.com/lifebelow600/

  11. The large amount of grammar and spelling errors make me question if the author is at all interested in a "real serious business". And WTF is up with the horrendous comma usage? It's similar on his Nautilus6 and LinkedIn websites, too. Also, how precisely did temporary downtimes prevent deploys? At best, it appears they would've been delayed by a couple hours, and the great part about Git is that you can work around…

Ever seen http://iampaddy.com ? I like this site because: there are very few posts; all of them are quality; the design is engaging; it is very easy to follow the author on twitter; reading each article takes little time. Looking at your blog then you have experiences, observations and advice to offer which could be valuable. Why not write one topic bi-weekly or monthly which focuses on a single theme, re-using your…

  16. I don't think the whole "above the fold" mentality is as relevant now as it was a few years ago. Monitors are bigger, and people are used to scrolling up and down a page. Sure, there should be something above the fold to entice the user to scroll, but to keep your content above the fold is just asking for a cluttered design. You're scrolling now, aren't you? :-) See http://iampaddy.com/lifebelow600/
