What Hacker News says?

  1. This particular paragraph is strangely under-informed in an otherwise-good article. """ Many people in the free software movement find censorship in general to be abhorrent. (That’s one very good reason, for example, why emails you receive that might be spam go into a special folder, instead of being silently deleted without you having a option to choose to see them if you wish. Your email server could just delete t…

  5. Something that I believe should be added to this thread would be utilities that can take the LastPass export and transform it into structures that other pw managers can easily recognize and import. Here [1] is an example of migrating passwords from LastPass to KeePassXC. Does anyone have more examples like this for other pw managers? 7. Interestingly, https://blog.paranoidpenguin.net/2015/01/outlook-com-is-sile... posted on HN today indicates that Outlook is discarding mail from low reputation senders after accepting them. Perhaps that's happening to you?

  9. > There are no issues with POP and multiple clients whatsoever. POP3 in standard only have "Leave a copy on the server" but lack synchronisation mechanism. > I suggest you to educate yourself on DKIM, DMARC, SPF and SMTP before making those statements. You cannot use SMTP in real world without these protocols. Your messages would automatically land in spam folders of big providers. For example, if you want to send e…

  11. That's only from your perspective. Website owners are still sending visitors IP-addresses your way. They have to trust you to do the hashing and deleting the salt (and pepper?) and not delivering data to others (4th party). Another problem you - and others like goatcounter have - is described here https://blog.paranoidpenguin.net/2020/07/plausible-analytics... .
