What Hacker News says?

  1. The wider Anglosphere is pushing this too. One organization behind it in both the UK and the US is the UK Labour Party. Yes, you read that correctly - high level Labour party operatives formed a nonprofit in the US to lobby for misinformation legislation, to ban X, and to pressure various other websites into deleting content. > CCDH also held meetings with federal legislators while pushing for “change in USA” toward…

  9. I don't know if you've intentionally misunderstood me or if I was hard to understand. This is not about one of those "just 30 years away"-technologies and their startups. This is about EXISTING nuclear reactors and people who want to keep them running or build more of them. Their representatives on the anti-social networks are people like Shellenberger and his "Institute" selling the "green nuclear" idea while sprea…

  11. Assuming Nature is correct that climate change costs just under 1% of GDP[1] in terms of extreme weather event costs. As an exercise, let’s double it to 2% of GDP. Now, given that climate mitigation is projected to cost 1-7% of GDP [2]. Economically, trying to “solve” the climate costs as much or more than it saves. It also results in a lower quality of life. For example, people not using their air conditioners beca…

  12. More importantly, what happens when the gatekeeers can't block news items like this interview with the former head of the CDC any more, talking about how the US helped fund the virus and covered up the fact? [0] The same people who were lying about treatments, and running faudulent scientific studies like the surgisphere studies [1] [1] Bugs me a lot, because there was no investigation as to why they did it, and no…

The BBC omits that this humble "social media campaigner" is a former Labour strategist [1,2], the CCDH he leads was founded by another Labour strategist and current Downing Street Chief of Staff [1,3], and said CCDH's explicit goal was to "Kill Musk's Twitter" [4], and their tactics are not to inform audiences about disinformation, so that they can make informed viewing decisions. No, their tactics are to deplatform…

  16. "Kill Musk's Twitter" was literally a Centre for Countering Digital Hate agenda item on a meeting with Senators in the US. The CCDH was started by advisors of Kier Starmer (one who is now his Chief of Staff). It is 100% a left wing pressure group. I don't see how anyone call it a conspiracy theory any more. https://disinformationchronicle.substack.com/p/election-excl...

  17. The British Prime Minister's chief of staff started an anti-misinformation pressure group called the "Centre for Countering Digital Hate" largely designed to stop Twitter because they didn't like its lurch to the right.
