Why HN links it

HN readers link Percepta's posts, including 'Can LLMs be computers', as examples of getting deterministic computation, such as a WebAssembly or RISC-V CPU, to run inside transformer weights.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 5 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

Percepta is a General Catalyst transformation company helping critical institutions actualize AI transformation.

  3. I think we can soon include "recursive depth" strategy that Astra is employing, which (I suspect) is using recursive internal state changes in the transformer as opposed to full forward-pass + sampling which has traditionally been the case with thinking/CoT. Similar method was used here (but different context - encoding tools inside the transformer weights for fast execution): https://www.percepta.ai/blog/can-llms-b…

  5. I do. This is the newest thng i'm aware of: https://www.percepta.ai/blog/can-llms-be-computers But there were papers in 2023 with a different approach requiring external memory https://arxiv.org/abs/2301.04589 too
