Too few sampled comments (2) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

Linked by commenters as sources: one post gives 2006 Flickr photo storage figures (about 15TB of new photos a month), another covers a 2011 review of Backify's 512GB backup service.

What Hacker News says?

  1. I think you're grossly underestimating the size of the Web. Flickr alone were storing 15TB of new photos a month back in 2006: http://blog.forret.com/2006/10/a-picture-a-day-flickrs-stora...

  3. From purely circumstantial evidence, this appears to be Backify's issue completely. It's run by Tarandeep Gill, who seems to have garnered a bit of a reputation. He was behind the "IE users are stupid" hoax. source: http://blog.forret.com/2011/10/is-backify-512gb-backup-for-f... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AptiQuant I'd avoid his other companies (AptiQuant and atCheap.com) as well.
