  3. I was surprised by that. I run my benchmark [1] every couple of days and was sure this model will be ath the pareto frontier, if not THE pareto frontier. But no: Ember isn't picked yet. In planning, Opus 5.5 wins under the planning weights. In code, GPT-6 Sol dominates it: also 10/10, but with a higher quality score and a lower estimated cost. Ember has no intelligence index, so its starting score is only 0.73, whic…

  11. This is madness. Some stories actually have good guys. I don't know Adam directly, but we have plenty of second degree connections. I've benefited immensely from his work, have never heard anyone say a single negative thing about him, and I genuinely believe he's done more to push the web forward with Tailwind than the larger players have done (certainly more than Facebook did with React and Google has done with Ang…

  21. The auth logic was literally inverted. Blocking people it should allow, allowing people it should block. Probably any human reviewer would catch that in seconds, but AI code generation optimizes for code that runs, not code that's correct in domain-specific ways. I wrote about this pattern recently, AI converges to plausible output but misses the reasoning that requires actual expertise: https://philippdubach.com/po…

  27. This lines up with something I keep coming back to. Sara Hooker's research shows compact models now outperform massive predecessors on many tasks, and scaling laws only reliably predict pre-training loss, not downstream performance. A minimal transformer learning 10-digit addition is a neat data point for that thesis. I wrote about the broader implications (2) The trillion-dollar scaling bet looks increasingly like…

  29. Section 122 caps at 15% and expires in 150 days without Congress. So I would assume this is a "negotiating position", not a trade regime. I'm more interested to see how the Fed reads it, since tariffs map directly into cost-push shocks that force a dual mandate tradeoff between inflation and employment. Covered this angle recently: https://philippdubach.com/posts/dual-mandate-tensions/
