What Hacker News says?
A tool I've experimenting with a lot recently is https://www.plasmic.app/ It outputs React code as well. But the approach is more similar to Figma. You can create components with variants etc. It can automatically sync changes to your local repo or create a pull request on GitHub.

HN discussionHere are some other exciting products in the space: https://www.plasmic.app/ https://www.builder.io/ https://clutch.io/ https://builderx.io/ https://dynaboard.com/ Each one has a slightly different take on the problem, and some of these are turning out to be quite useful for teams. I'm very curious to see how things will shape up. I find Aspect to be particularly beautiful, a nice clean UI great work!

HN discussionI don't follow how HTML comes anything close to expressing dynamism, composition, state, Turing completeness, etc. Sure, you can encode whatever you want inside of data attributes, but that's just ignoring the problem. You still have to decide on a language to express all that within your data attributes. React server components also does not is not trying to serialize this. Quite the opposite. We have an in-depth w…

HN discussionFramer is an awesome prototyping tool (I use it), but I would've wanted to know up-front that "export to React" comes with two huge caveats: - There's nothing stopping you from using it in production, but it isn't designed for this. What you create does not even use real layout, does not use normal HTML elements, etc.: see https://www.framer.com/support/using-framer/creating-real-ap... . - Inevitably in any real-wor…

HN discussionPlasmic ( https://www.plasmic.app ) enables this workflow—you can visually edit the design while editing behavioral code side-by-side—but with a different approach than what you described, since we want to include non-developers. (I work on this.)

HN discussionKudos to the author for making this, these are not easy to build! I noticed this doesn't yet support a number of things in Figma: autolayout, SVG shapes, masking, blend modes, transforms, filter effects, etc. There are also numerous other Figma-to-React tools out there, but of varying quality. You need heuristics to address the impedance mismatch between the different representations and to yield something usable. I…

on “Ask HN: Who is hiring? (December 2021)”> If it’s a Saas company, tech startup, design agency, or enterprise, I strongly strongly recommend Webflow for their marketing site even though they think they want JAMstack Yeeeah but no. Companies (especially those ones) can have plenty of good reasons to need more control / custom code / integrations / etc. I think a lot of people don't realize how crippling and limiting committing to Webflow can be, and how muc…
