  3. >(do you know what NYC was like in the 90's? It's not some distant history) I do. And today is light years better than it was in the 90s. In fact, there were crack dealers on my corner in the 90s. They're not there any more. Or on 95th street and Amsterdam. And there aren't any hookers on 90th street and Broadway or 58th and Sixth like there were in the 80s. And I didn't know Verdi Park was called "Verdi Park" back…

So you’d pay $26 per cocktail and $68 for a pork chop, but $15 is too expensive for an Uber. I find that hard to believe. Even if true, you are not representative of SF consumers. 7. I think the leading implementation is Toast Tab at least in the Bay. I really like it and hope it becomes more prominent. https://pos.toasttab.com/products/mobile-order-and-pay >With Toast Mobile Order & Pay™, guests can easily scan a QR code to browse the menu, order, and pay, all from their mobile device. Plus with Apple Pay, guests can pay in less than 10 seconds.

  8. I've had similar really good experiences, but it's probably just luck. The last place I went to they used https://pos.toasttab.com/ . It was quick, easy, everyone at the table was able to pay for their own food without having to worry about dividing up the bill, it was easy to order additional items without having to wait for the waiter to come around, etc. And, fwiw, it didn't seem to affect the social aspect of my…

  9. In my neighborhood in NYC, restaurants are getting much more vocal about the commission rate. We used to be pretty exclusive seamless users in my house until we got a letter in one of our bags that roughly read: "thank you for your order. Especially with the decrease in volume during these times of crisis, the grubhub commission makes it hard for us to stay in business. please consider ordering direct to support you…

  10. I always try to go the website. But I think adding some murk is that some restaurants use third party order systems like by door dash via the generic: https://order.online/en-US/ For example this is a doordash site (set up by the restaurant): https://order.online/business/-54797/en-US A restaurant tried to call me about an order, but coming from a toll free number I ignored it. I asked them why they didn't have a lo…

  15. I think that's right. It's like the endless examples around finding restaurants and making reservations, seemingly as common a problem in AI demos as stain removal is in daytime TV ads. But it's a problem that even Toast, which makes restaurant software, says most people just don't regularly have ( https://pos.toasttab.com/blog/data/restaurant-wait-times-and... ). Most people either never make restaurant reservation…

  17. ChowNow charges a fixed fee (not sure what it is, I read somewhere that it's between $99-$150/month). For deliveries, I believe they outsource. Wix Restaurants is a fixed fee too -- but it's more like an augmentation to an existing Wix website I believe. They don't own a delivery fleet, so the restaurant has to hire its own drivers (which high-volume restaurants are not averse to doing). I tried ordering from a Wix…

  18. 3-5% is the average profit margin for a restaurant. Also, the profit for the franchise owner is not the same as the total profit. McDonalds as a corporation is charging the franchisee licensing fees (and often rent as well), which should also be considered part of the profit.
