HN discussionNext.js, and most likely all the big players, can achieve that. I use Prismic for a lot of projects, and here's documentation about how to achieve previews with it and Next.js https://prismic.io/docs/technologies/previews-nextjs

HN discussionYes, there are lots now! There are some good ones, but some are definitely way pricier than I think they should be. With Next.js, you can even use Wordpress as a cms to back a static blog ( https://github.com/vercel/next.js/tree/canary/examples/cms-w... ) Just a few off the top of my head: - https://graphcms.com - https://prismic.io - https://www.sanity.io - https://www.datocms.com/ - https://www.cosmicjs.com/ More…

HN discussionJust finished working on the first iteration of a website for my mom. I didn’t want to deal with a full classical CMS and maintain Databases and such, especially as my experience with wordpress, PHP and typo3 has faded a little bit. My mom’s website is basically a directory of old mansions in former eastern Prussia. Site is in German: https://gutshaeuser-ostpreussen.de Anyhow Stack chosen: Backend/CMS as a Service:…

HN discussionTrying to decide between these: (a) Wordpress (b) SquareSpace (c) https://strapi.io/ (d) https://prismic.io/ (e) https://www.contentful.com/ The output will be a simple website, we already have all pages in HTML, and from the tech perspective we could use any of the above. What I've seen was: SquareSpace is still rather limited, Prismic and Contentful are around $500 per month in their non-free-tier, and Strapi is j…

HN discussion@rudyrigot and the team @prismicio http://prismic.io really have a handle on this problem. They believe a github-esq content management system makes the most sense for content creators, and a content API makes most sense for engineers to distribute that content inside of a variety of platforms (mobile, a rails app, whatever). Saw Rudy speak at Zendesk/Rails meetup this month, it was a very good presentation (I am no…

HN discussionI interpret the groundswell interest in the SSG a testament the CMS does not address all the needs in the content publication pipeline. Some organizations have a focus on content creators. Others on developers. In general, the hacker mindset has an allergy towards ecosystems that remove control. The SSG is about providing a framework for the developer to assert control and regaining flexibility to deliver content in…

HN discussionPrismic.io is another excellent "CMS as a service": https://prismic.io I've used it on a project and was quite pleased. Using their API, separating content publishing from the presentation becomes much more robust than with a traditional integrated CMS that you customize using themes or whatever.

HN discussionI see a lot of people talking about SQL or Airtable. But there's a third middle ground here - Graphql based headless CMS. For example Graphcms, Prismic, etc. You get the standardization of Graphql (which means no lock-in) and pretty much as powerful as SQL really. You also get the admin/dashboardy/WYSIWYG aspects of a CMS - https://prismic.io/feature/custom-type-builder Very easy integration - https://medium.com/bet…

HN discussionWe've been looking at several CMS's to use for our upcoming website rewrites. Since our content is quite broad and unique in the way that it links together, we've found that existing solutions doesn't really fit into the usual CMS solutions.
