What Hacker News says?
We used a variant of this[0] when I was at Canva (and I'm sure they still do). Having a hard requirement that you are able to fake out any external dependency in dev environments provides a massive boost to dev speed. The investment is tiny too - often a single interface and a day of dev time to build out a functional fake service for, say, S3 or SQS. [0] https://product.canva.com/hermeticity/
