What Hacker News says?

  1. Nitpick re: https://blog.toast.cafe/posix2024-xcu#fn:6 SRC != ls *.c is fine in a makefile as far as POSIX is concerned, because: > Applications shall select target names from the set of characters consisting solely of slashes, hyphens, periods, underscores, digits, and alphabetics from the portable character set

  3. A lot of this post hinges on the fact that newlines in filenames were legal, and that people wrote shell without handling quoting correctly. While quoting (as well as ls altering filenames) is still an issue, find -print0, read -d '', and similar are no longer neccessary. Newlines are now forbidden in filenames: https://blog.toast.cafe/posix2024-xcu
