Why HN links it

HN readers link this blog for its survey charts on Python version and operating system use in science, cited in threads on the Python 3 migration. The comments do not judge the writing itself.

  5. Perhaps off topic, but this was the most interesting to me: http://astrofrog.github.io/images/survey_plots/os.svg People really use Linux in scientific communities? Like, non-computer people? In the Netherlands Linux usage (or anything other than Windows and OS X), even among university software engineering students, is almost non-existent. Three out of seventy students I know use it (4%), including myself.
