Too few sampled comments (2) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

Linked for a Google Maps version of the NSA undersea fibre-tapping story and for a post on moving from Ubuntu to a Mac. The comments are mostly bare links with little comment on the writing.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?

  1. Can’t believe it’s been over ten years. 2008 was when there were numerous undersea cable disruptions[1]. I wrote about them when it happened from the best sources I could find at the time[2]. It isn’t surprising to see that surveillance may have occurred as a result. [1] - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_submarine_cable_disruptio... 3. Interesting. I have difficulties with procrastination as well. I don't recall having met anyone in our realm who says they don't have some difficulties with it. Generally, I agree with what the article is saying. I have found my own ties to procrastination and emotion; specifically anxiety, which the article touched on. I think the suggested approach from the article is missing something that I have found to be impo…

  7. This is a great suggestion. A while ago I did some benchmarks with hooking up APC and Squid proxy to the site I was working on at the time. The results were pretty amazing. I saw an increase in capability/performance of 400-700%. I'd probably choose Varnish over Squid if I had to do it again, however. The Squid configuration file is a bit of a nightmare. http://randomdrake.com/2009/07/14/benchmark-results-show-400...

This post would constitute a good/constructive reply to the latter article : 25 Years to Mac - How Ubuntu Pushed Me Away from the PC[1] [1][ http://randomdrake.com/2013/02/23/25-years-to-mac-how-ubuntu... ]

  11. I've got the logo for the Commodore 64 tattooed on my left shoulder. It began my love of computers at a young age that has been with me for my entire life. I turn 30 in 2 weeks. I feel glad and honored to share a birthday so close to something that has affected my life so much. It's fun to know we grew up together. I'd like to share a story with Hacker News about something so dear to my heart. When I was just shy of…

  13. Very interesting read. As someone who struggled through the implementation of Jenks[1] a few years ago in PHP, I can attest to the fact that it was extremely difficult to find any programming of Jenks that was understandable and clear. I was able to find some examples of code, but nothing could explain what was actually happening and, as you said, there were no comments or poor comments in those examples. What I was…
