Why HN links it
HN readers link Robert Foss's hands-on hardware and software posts. These cover an image-as-audio editing experiment, ESP8266 gadget builds, and easier ESP8266 setup.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 3 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
Hi, I am Robert Foss. I love building things; software, hardware and weird art. I'm a Free Software enthusiast and among others things I'm a contributor to the Linux graphics stack and related projects like the Linux Kernel, Mesa and drm_hwcomposer.
What Hacker News says?
I just posted the article[1] that I think prompted this script to be brought up. What I did instead was to run images through an audio editing tool, which lets you apply echoes or do mindboggling things like change the volume of the image. The script can be found on github[2]. HN discussionI've personally built hardware[1] and software[2] around the ESP8266 and it is a wonderful little chip. The low price point ($2 including shipping from China) and the very active community around it really makes it stand out.
