What Hacker News says?
I just found at the bottom of this Cringely website info page, he says there were indeed more than one person calling themselves Cringely. And he was writing for InfoWorld, not PC Week. https://www.cringely.com/bout-bob/ "Through a cruel twist of fate having to do with federal judges and unscrupulous lawyers there is, for the moment, more than one Robert X. Cringely. You are right now reading the one true Cringely,…

HN discussionDamn. I've loved Bob and his writings ever since I read Accidental Empires as a kid. He went through some crazy shit over the last few years (lost his house, almost blind). And when he started blogging again this year ( https://www.cringely.com/2026/05/27/where-the-heck-have-i-be... ), the stories got even worse (lost his son, heart attack, stroke). RIP.

HN discussionRobert X. Cringely has a term for this sort of experience: being an "airport kid." http://www.cringely.com/2013/02/07/accidental-empires-part-6... When aviation was new, in the 1900s and 1910s and 1920s, the technology of flight was growing at an incredible pace. Flying was new and sexy and constantly changing. And you didn't need to be a "professional pilot" to get in on it; all you needed to do was to find someone…

HN discussionDid you see Robert Cringely's article where he comes to a very similar conclusion? Ironically, although he sees the same gambit, the two of you seem to be interpreting the situation completely opposite. If I'm reading you both right, you believe Scalia was the most likely to side with Apple, whereas he thinks Scalia was a sure vote for the FBI? What’s going on is Justice Antonin Scalia is dead. Had Justice Scalia no…
