What Hacker News says?
1) There are some new funds popping up, like indie.vc, which don't subscribe to the "Uber or bust" model. Some accelerators, like 500 Startups, are also in that camp. 2) If you can bootstrap to enough revenue, you can try bank loans or things like http://www.saas-capital.com/ 3) Unfortunately, the numbers don't work out for VCs if your goal isn't "$1b+ or bust." Almost all companies will exit for much, much less tha…

on “Mistral AI raises $640M at $6B valuation”15% is not a terrible rate. If you look at companies like OnDeck[0] they start at 11% and don't lend to SaaS companies. There are also companies that already do this like "saas-capital"[1] which start at 12%. SVB won't lend until you're > $1M ARR. This just slightly above the market rate for a lower MRR SaaS company. 0 - https://www.ondeck.com/resources/top-10-faqs 1 - https://www.saas-capital.com/our-approach

on “Show HN: Founderpath – Raise $10k-$1m in 72 hours, free revenue analytics”The article is a bit old from 2020, but I like it's brevity. Scott's quote, which is the centerpiece, is golden. Since the article was written, this quote was proven right once again[1], with the valuations of the high-flying software companies coming down once on the "SaaSpocalypse" came along with the AI revolution. I thought it's worth pondering on those words, with the new wave of IPOs coming to the market. [1]…

on “'What Were You Thinking?' – Scott McNeely, Founder of Sun Microsystems”This is categorically untrue, many developers are COGS. > The salaries of the team responsible for keeping the production instance of the software up and running should also be included in COGS. All other R&D expenses should not be in COGS. https://www.saas-capital.com/blog-posts/what-should-be-inclu...

on “Software firms across US facing tax bills that threaten startup survival”Congrats on well running business (with or without the gym). Many strive to be in that situation. There's specialized services which give you a loan based on MRR. Streamlined, focussed on SaaS, some even connect directly to a Stripe account. I can't find the right search engine terms right now, maybe https://www.saas-capital.com/our-approach but I seem to remember a different website. That might be an alternative to…
