Sean Parent's personal blog at sean-parent.stlab.cc covers programming. Since 2018, 7 different Hacker News readers have linked it 9 times, most often ““Modern” C++ Ruminations”. The last post was in 2022, but the archive is still widely read.
Too few sampled comments (5) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN readers link Sean Parent's C++ talks, slides and papers on concurrency, chains and C++ practice. One commenter says nearly everything he has given is very good and recommends his talks.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 5 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
Too many projects, too little time.

What Hacker News says?
I recommend Sean Parent's talks: http://sean-parent.stlab.cc/papers-and-presentations/ . Pretty much everything is very good. It's usually C++-centric, but his subjects are deep enough to be useful to software engineering in any language.

HN discussionI am not GP poster. I find pron points interesting even if I work in the gamedev on game engines. If you don't mind I will try to explain how I see them interesting. Since I have not worked on Rust systems I will stick to C++. Note his example elsewhere in this discussion of 2 projects done at same time in Java and Rust and the complaint that Rust system used too many locks. This can happen in C++ too. But why it do…

HN discussionThis approach is extremely popular. С++ have it with parallel-for like libraries. It has some downsides. When multiple threads join before allowing to continue it leaves some perf on the table. If you have limited number of threads to hardware concurrency then any thread that reaches join point is typically unavailable to deal with remaining work or other algorithms. In gamedev with limited concurrency due to hardwa…

HN discussionYou might want to watch "GoingNative 2013 C++ Seasoning" video or at least check it's slides [1]. It may sound like it is old but the part about pointers is essential for anyone who wants to write C++. IMHO from gamedev: HN is not going to get it ever. They either have moved to high level languages or do not need performance at all. 1. https://sean-parent.stlab.cc/presentations/2013-09-11-cpp-se...
