What Hacker News says?

  1. Seems like there are two ideas here. 1. A way to keep your data/parts of your business after you've been kicked off a platform. I say parts because amazon is much more than just OMS, CMS, support platform. 2. Tools to build a marketplace. Which, besides being open source, how is this idea different than https://www.sharetribe.com/ ?

Thanks for the discussion everyone. Ref: https://www.sharetribe.com/academy/how-to-communicate-your-v...

  5. If you have contacts in the industry, you could use something like sharetribe to see if you can build a marketplace: https://www.sharetribe.com/ It is super easy to get going with their hosted service. (Not an employee, just a satisfied user.) Of course that turns this from a technical problem to a marketing and sales problem, which may be less appealing.

  7. The OP specifically states that they know the technical part and are asking about the "financial side". But - > "How do I build a service where I can link a buyer with a seller and earn money on that transaction?" I googled that exact phrase just to see what came up, and the first link was this: https://www.sharetribe.com/academy/how-to-design-your-market... 11. Sharetribe ( https://www.sharetribe.com/ ) allows you to create your own marketplace (also supports rentals). Anyway their product is open-sourced https://github.com/sharetribe/sharetribe . Haven't worked on it though.
