Too few sampled comments (4) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

Web host SiteGround, whose hosting and pricing pages come up in WordPress and hosting-cost discussions, and whose knowledge-base SSH key tutorial is cited. Comments link its product pages rather than praise its writing.

What Hacker News says?

  1. Can't find 20 dollars a month for a managed wp? For 4 dollars a month you can. https://www.siteground.com/wpbeginner-managed 50 dollars a month seems extremely costly. For that amount $600 a year it would be cheaper to hire someone to self host for you.

For business stuff I've swiped the credit card and paid for support as well. If the Shopify experience is easier than WooCommerce, etc. then I get it.

  5. Never underestimate how long a bad tutorial can float around: https://www.siteground.com/kb/how_to_generate_an_ssh_key_on_... This site isn't where I first saw this. This isn't the top hit for any search term I can come up with, but it is often on the first page of hits. So people do silly things without understanding what they're doing. (To give somewhat of a feeling for age here, the exact wording from that tutori…

  6. This will probably be an unpopular answer, but if you are in a situation where you need to turn over management of the site to a team of non programmers (which this post doesnt sound like); Managed Wordpress + static site plugin and cdn caching. Managed Wordpress hosting is $4-$6/m from a reputable place[1], and then everything wordpress and below needs no maintenance. Youll have access control for which team member…
