What Hacker News says?
Why? Can't a company make it so that there's a "cancel contract" method? I am not an Ethereum expert, I just don't understand, to be clear. I'm sure this is far more basic than what you know how to do, but this seems pretty simple to add a "cancel contract" method that seems like it'd meet the requirement to be as easy to cancel as it was to set up. The account status seems like they can at any time just read it off…

HN discussionFunny thing is, it is not supported on purpose. Most browser had support for SharedArrayBuffer but it got disabled when Meltdown/Spectre came to light (as well as high precision timers in the browser) [0]. [0]: https://www.sitepen.com/blog/the-return-of-sharedarraybuffer...

HN discussionWhere is the love for [Deferreds?]( http://www.sitepen.com/blog/2010/05/03/robust-promises-with-... )? Deferreds are * Mostly monadic (creating a deferred is "return", the "then" method is "fmap" and "bind"). * Can be implemented as a library, without a separate compilation step or having to patch the runtime. * Avoids most of the CPS inversion of control madness. You can return and store promises and you can also a…

HN discussionHere's my take on all of this: https://www.sitepen.com/blog/2016/10/17/announcing-the-js-fo... The feedback is interesting, but I think it helps to understand more of the history to get that most of the negative feedback here is overreaction. Some thoughts: * No, the foundation isn't trying to dominate or tell people what to do. It's trying to support open source projects through their lifecycle. Running a project c…

HN discussionIt seems to work okay as in you can use them: https://reactjs.org/docs/web-components.html But it is not fully integrated with react, you have to do some work for interaction: https://www.sitepen.com/blog/wrapping-web-components-with-re... HN discussionIt would be great to see a standard emerge here. HN discussionHe missed my favorite: http://www.persvr.org/ CouchDB requires custom views for each field you want to optimally query. HN discussionI normally turn to ringojs[1] for "off-browser javascript" with Java integration. It's been around nearly 20 years[2] now! Is this a new take on the same concept? The examples seem web application focused, but there's not even a mention of JSGI[3] or whether it was even considered. HN discussionYou might be interested in the dgrid project (see slides at http://www.slideshare.net/sitepen/dgrid-next-generation-dojo... and blog post at http://www.sitepen.com/blog/2011/10/26/introducing-the-next-... ). It's a new module, and one of the interesting features is support for the jQuery ThemeRoller classes. It's pretty lightweight, and could be used with jQuery with something like RequireJS, etc.
