Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
Linked as a brief overview of the causal ladder, a framework for causal reasoning, in a discussion of reinforcement learning and robotics. Read as a useful introduction to the topic.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
What Hacker News says?
By "intervention" I mean interacting with the environment. Purpose a hypothesis, test, modify, test. You can frame RL this way though RL usually generates hypotheses that are far too naïve. This looks like a good brief overview (I only skimmed it but wanted to give you more than "lol, google it") http://smithamilli.com/blog/causal-ladder/
