Why HN links it

HN readers link Software Simply for Haskell material: web framework comparisons, a Haskell spelling corrector, and monads, plus an Ember.js post about a problem the author identified.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 3 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?

  1. I was writing a reply to this, but it got long enough that I decided to make it a standalone blog post. http://softwaresimply.blogspot.com/2016/12/on-haskell-docume...

  3. Some more annotated resources: 1. http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Web/Comparison_of_Happsta... A relatively complete listing of resources comparing the three major framework/libraries. A lot of this information is outdated, sadly. 2. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5645168/comparing-haskell... A SO question about comparing Snap and Yesod where both maintainers chime in. example: nWords = liftM (train . lowerWords . B.unpack) (B.readFile "big.txt") There was recently a very good article[0] about practically using monads that mentioned using liftM. However whenever using a functor instance is possible it's probably better, since functors can't do as much as monads. I'm not quite sure how much this would help/apply to this small example though. 0: http://softwaresimply.blogspot.com/20…

I think there are good arguments for language-generated code, especially with a language that is powerful enough. HSP in Haskell provides some interesting possibilities here ( http://www.cs.chalmers.se/~d00nibro/hsp/thesis.pdf ). Text.XHtml is anoth…
