Why HN links it
HN readers link these posts for a statement on the Turntable name and domain dispute and a speculative piece on whether Tesla hobbles Autopilot. Both are cited as background in discussions.

What Hacker News says?
Yeah, the "why" the URL changed is a pretty messy story. The original founders both wanted to start a new version of the original, and had a very public feud about ownership of the domain / name. I can't find any of it now so I'm assuming it was all removed as part of the settlement. Instead, they both posted this nearly identical statement. https://jperla.medium.com/turntable-resolution-c66c6662ad62 https://billych…

HN discussionThat's right the limitation is Data. You can't effectively use the extra compute if you don't have enough data to train a bigger neural network. https://jperla.medium.com/why-tesla-autopilot-ought-to-be-aw...

on “This Year, Autonomous Trucks Will Take to the Road with No One on Board”There is also a separate article from this site that speculates that Tesla's easily observable quality problems with Autopilot are actually the result of Tesla intentionally hobbling it so drivers don't become complacent: https://jperla.medium.com/why-tesla-autopilot-ought-to-be-aw... The article admits it has no evidence for this speculation ("Is Tesla doing this? Perhap not.") but at other points assumes it is tru…

on “Humans are remarkably safe at driving”I am the author, and I am a self-driving car engineer too! Waymo is an inspiring project, many friends work there, and it literally inspired me to work on self-driving cars. I wrote this to help people in the industry have the right context in the right way. As to Waymo's driverless testing, it's dangerous! See here what I wrote about why: https://jperla.medium.com/tesla-saves-lives-waymo-gambles-pa...
