This is similar to Sven Yrvind's philosophy on eating at sea. >I will eat twice a day, breakfast and lunch four hours later. >... >I say, “Cows only eat grass and wolfs only eat meat” >Modern society is so boring and there is so much food that we have to be stimulated by spices and chefs and different foods to eat. At sea in a small boat its different. Life itself out there is so interesting that I do not need stimu…

HN discussionI read half way through this free book by Sven Yrvind called “WITH FOUR SQUARE METERS OF SAIL AND ONE OAR” which is sort of a manifesto about building small boats and living simply. He’s a super interesting guy, I don’t even know how to sail and I was pretty glued to it. Not sure why I decided to latch on and go deep on the subject but you can find it here if you’re interested: https://www.yrvind.com/wp-content/uplo…

HN discussionThis guy has some great stories about sailing there and other tiny places in tiny boats. In 1974 his boat was the first to land on the world's most isolated island, Tristan da Cuhna. He had built the 6 meter long boat Bris in his mother's basement. The island has no harbor but the boat was lifted up and placed on the beach. There he got a job as a math teacher. https://www.yrvind.com/ https://www.yrvind.com/wp-conte…
