What Hacker News says?
> mainstream-ization of the crypto currencies And modern Tendermint[1]/Cosmos SDK-based chains or Solana are basically distributed databases, using consensus models similar to Raft, except with byzantine fault tolerance and Proof of Stake for leader selection. No mining, no forks, finality within seconds, large throughput. Pretty boring, actually, with little hype surrounding it - it just works, like a regular datab…

on “Ask HN: Who is hiring? (September 2017)”I was thinking how secure DApps built on Cosmos [0] would be. But I guess no matter the theoretical soundness, your DApp's security is as good as your L2 code. And messing around with L1s with no proper security foundation is a recipe for disaster. Re cosmos, if you guys aren't aware it's based on Tendermint [1] which is an advance in the field of consensus. [0] https://cosmos.network/ [1] https://tendermint.com/

on “Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2018)”Kadena seems like a solid team, kudos for their work. Smart contracts require you to work in a completely new language and toolset. You don't need smart contracts to create a blockchain application, if you use the right libraries (e.g. go-merkle) and write your application to be deterministic. See Basecoin in the page below: http://tendermint.com/ecosystem If you want the benefits of Tendermint BFT consensus but w/…

on “Goldman Sachs Drops Out of R3 Blockchain Group”Tendermint founder here. What we're doing with Tendermint is creating a new protocol. See TMSP from the tutorial from Tendermint. http://tendermint.com/posts/tendermint-socket-protocol/ Yes, we're moving away from "PoS" from the time being, because our clients are more interested in posting collateral external to the blockchain. That said, the original security properties still hold. It's the combination of three th…

on “On the dangers of a blockchain monoculture”Thanks for the compliments! We do really care about quality software design and testing, and we're looking to hire folks that share our values: https://tendermint.com/careers Lots of people are using Tendermint. The biggest users would be Hyperledger Burrow ( https://github.com/hyperledger/burrow ) and our own Ethermint ( https://github.com/tendermint/ethermint ). We're also working on an SDK for building apps in Go…

on “Tendermint 0.10.2”There’s Tendermint: https://tendermint.com/ , which is gaining popularity in distributed systems projects. It’s Byzantine fault tolerant, unlike Raft and Paxos.

on “BitcoinEmissions – A project to calculate CO2 emissions of mining bitcoin”In PoW, ultimately the miners have the say. It's just that they're incentivized to do what the "economic majority" has to say, otherwise the economic majority can choose to hard-fork the mining algo (requiring a change in hardware investment), or, can switch to PoS, say. http://tendermint.com/blog/on-thedao-and-blockchain-governan...
