What Hacker News says?
Fun story, a good... (checks calendar, oh lord) 8+ years ago, I made a mis-kerned version of helvetica (smelvetica i called it [1]) as a joke, and eventually had the lawyers push on me > we ask that you stop promoting ‘Smelvetica’ and making the font software available to everybody. Next time, just let us know if you have more ideas on how to modernize our classics, we are always open for creative input. - [1]( http…

HN discussionI've been running out of ways to find weird new yet not absurd stuff on the web. All linkblogs are constantly dying. Even these from the beginning of this century. Thanks to author's homepage[1] (can I call it that?) now I have one fresh - http://inspiring.online/ . 1: http://tholman.com

HN discussionI love a good useless program, I may have written more useless ones than useful. Here's a few of my faves from the last 10 years! - A password strength page that insults you based on strength https://trypap.com/ - Minesweeper with 1 square https://onesquareminesweeper.com/ - Adding elevator music to "go to top" buttons https://tholman.com/elevator.js/ - CSS Animation library of obnoxious over the top animations http…

HN discussionhttp://tholman.com/github-corners/ is another, which gives you straight SVG to inline. This one with a couple of minutes of minification and inlining comes to about 1 170 bytes (no gzip); that one after similar time comes to about 985 bytes and more accessible (see its aria-label/aria-hidden) if you remove the fancy animation which is a bonus. (I confess I’m addicted to shaving bytes.)
