What Hacker News says?
Because switching to a system where everybody has to get unmarried in order to satisfy the ideological preferences of people who want to get the government out of the marriage business is something that's going to be a really hard sell to all the existing straight married people. I wrote a long post about it a while back: https://tommorris.org/posts/2555

HN discussionI guess 2 years is long enough for most people to have forgotten the brief storm about his homophobic political activities. I wonder if this appointment would have been made 18 months ago when that was still fresh in people's minds. I can't help thinking that it doesn't really fit with the image Mozilla tries to present of themselves. http://tommorris.org/posts/2550

HN discussionAlso, doctors who specialise in hearing loss (given the volume we pump into our ears to block out the noise in open plan offices), as well as pharmaceutical companies making any drugs that deal with increases in stress (another fun side-effect of open plan nonsense). HN discussionYour "simple solution" would require the invalidation of all straight people's marriages. Politically, that's about as toxic as proudly saying you are going to be building a pre-school on top of a nuclear waste dump. HN discussion> I'm not sure why some people find open office plans so unpleasant. Funnily enough, I recently outlined the reasons here (applicable specifically to those with hearing loss as well as everybody else), with reference to a whole range of scientific studies. https://tommorris.org/posts/9403

HN discussionI think this is a good thing - searching for the n-word on Github reveals a lot of static swear-word lists for filters (which are OK) [1] but also lots of rather strange choices for tests (what's up with weboob's test.py?). We as a community of open source developers have to stop and think about how the outside world perceives us. There's already lots and lots of negative flak in regards to sexism about Silicon Vall…

HN discussionThe site tells me nothing about the app. "Share and meet new friends", okay well who are they and how does it match me to people? Can I chat with people I already know? HN discussionWonder if things like this might cause an issue: http://tommorris.org/posts/2550 Mozilla has always stood for freedom of knowledge, and by extension human rights (so people can access that knowledge). I don't know what Brendan's political beliefs currently are, but I hope he doesn't still wish to restrict the human rights of certain people based on their sexual orientation. Not trying to make any assumption and wish…
